Make a pumpkin carving pattern from your pet's photo
Pets make some of the most recognizable pumpkins: ears, eyes, and a nose read clearly when the light shines through. The photo you choose matters more than anything else.
Pick the photo
- Face the camera. A straight-on or slightly turned face works far better than a profile or a sleeping curl.
- Get close. The face should fill most of the square crop. A whole dog on a lawn becomes a tiny, uncarvable shape.
- Use even light. Daylight from a window works well. Harsh shadows can turn into odd cut shapes.
- Keep it simple. One pet, a plain background, and no hands, toys, or other pets overlapping the face.
Crop for the pumpkin
After you upload, drag the square so the eyes sit a little above the middle and the ears fit inside the frame. Leave a small gap around the head rather than cutting off the ears.
Dark fur and light fur
The pattern turns your photo into cut and uncut areas. Very dark or very light pets can lose the edges of their faces, so a photo with visible whiskers, eye highlights, and ear shapes against the background gives the best result. If we can't make a carvable pattern from your photo, your credit stays available to try another. If the finished pattern doesn't look like your pet, contact us for a refund.
Which difficulty?
Standard suits most pets. Easy has fewer, wider shapes and is the simplest to cut. Challenging keeps fine fur and whisker detail but takes patience and a sharp saw.
